Too much Taxation for Too much Bad Representation

Updated: Dec 8, 2023

Disclaimer: "One of the main reasons the American Revolution was fought against Britain, was a three Penny tax on pound of tea! Today many Americans are paying nearly 50% of their income in various taxes to various governments. I say - that's taxation without proper representation! Signed, Jack Boomer Johnson."

Income Tax

How much did you make? The IRS ask! Well, send it in!

In the early '80s when I worked for Internal Revenue Service as a Commissioned Revenue Officer, we had this running joke about income tax and how bad it really was. Every now and then during tax season, someone would pull out the old simple IRS 1040 one page form. It had two lines and one question on the form. "Question 1. How much did you make? Line 2.- Send it in!"

We would just laugh our fannies off! But today, it is no laughing matter that taxes eat up about 60% of what we earn! That is certainly no joke!

Today, many Americans are paying over 60% of their income to various tax entities such as, IRS, state governments, real estate property taxes, communications taxes, federal storm water tax, gas tax, cell phone tax and sales taxes.! Yikes!!! I say that we're probably not getting our dollars worth at any level of government today. They create issues and exacerbate minor issues so they can continue to govern when simple solutions were available! But they took a complex and circuitous route. Government is in the business of justifying why we people need more government. Hell fire! - We need less government for sure.

It's probably time for a Boston Harbor Tax Evolution Revolution. Certainly for us Texans, I know tax Revolution at the Rio Grande Texas border is in order. We can do it the Texas friendly way - for sure!

Peace- Love-Joy! I am hopeful we can avoid a violent revolution over the government taking our stuff and calling it taxation for representation. Ultimately, the smarter people will prevail!

“Taxman”

By Artist, The Beatles

(Full Lyrics below)

"One, two, three, four

One, two (one, two, three, four)

Let me tell you how it will be

There's one for you, nineteen for me

'Cause I'm the taxman

Yeah, I'm the taxman

Should five percent appear too small

Be thankful I don't take it all

'Cause I'm the taxman

Yeah, I'm the taxman

I'll tax the street

(If you try to sit, sit) I'll tax your seat

(If you get too cold, cold) I'll tax the heat

(If you take a walk, walk) I'll tax your feet

(Taxman)

'Cause I'm the taxman

Yeah, I'm the taxman

Don't ask me what I want it for

(Ah, ah, Mr. Wilson)

If you don't want to pay some more

(Ah, ah, Mr. Heath)

'Cause I'm the taxman

Yeah, I'm the taxman

Now my advice for those who die (taxman)

Declare the pennies on your eyes (taxman)

'Cause I'm the taxman

Yeah, I'm the taxman

And you're working for no one but me (taxman)"
