Freedom is not Free!

Today is the day to give thanks for all veterans and active duty military personnel that have served our Country. At the writing of this blog, I'm sitting in a little cemetery in Center Point, Texas. There are many heroes buried in this small cemetery, to include many Texas Rangers that served the Great State of Texas.

There are two great heroes that I know from a personal connection. I have visited both of their grave sites. Major Max McClure formerly of Spur, Texas and Captain Charles A Austin, formerly of the Pampa, Texas area. Both of these officers served in the same unit in World War II at a base in England. They probably did not know each other personally but they flew many missions over France. I came to know family members of both families. Just a strange "godcidence" that I became connected with them many years after their passing.

They both were P-47, Thunderbolt fighter pilots. Major McClure is resting at the national cemetery at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Captain Austin is resting at the Allied national cemetery at Normandy, France.

I thank God for those gentlemen that helped save the people of the European continent during World War II. There are many unsung heroes that served gallantly for our country. Those heroes, both men and women, fought and served to preserve our freedom.

My prayer is this: May we American Citizens continue to honor them by fighting for our freedom in all ways and always!

God blessed America!

Enjoy!

I stand on the stairway, my back to the dungeons

The doorway to freedom, so close to my hand

The voices behind me, still bitterly damn me

For seeking salvation, they don't understand

Lord help me to shoulder the burden of freedom

And give me the courage to be what I can

And when I am wounded by those who condemn me

Lord help me forgive them, they don't understand

Their lonely frustration, descending to laughter

Erase the footprints I leave in the sand

I'm free to travel, where no one can follow

In search of the kingdom, they don't understand

Lord help me to shoulder the burden of freedom

And give me the courage to be what I can

And when I have wounded the last one who loved me

God help her forgive me, I don't understand
